Twelve Days of Christmas song words

This is a cautionary tale of "Be careful what you wish for"!

Few of us would argue if our "true love" gave us "5 golden rings" for Christmas, but sometimes thinking outside the box when shopping for Christmas Gifts can be a bit too creative.

As though being given a partridge to take care of for Christmas (complete with its very own pear tree home) isn't bad enough, the loved one in "The 12 Days of Christmas" song is given 10 other equally odd gifts.

The loved one in the song receives a total of twenty three; count them, 23 birds for Christmas! Besides the partridge, these include a couple of turtledoves, 3 French hens, 4 calling birds (collie birds - that is to be specific), and of course no true bird sanctuary would be complete without 6 geese (already laying eggs), oh, and don't forget 7 swimming swans (complete with a pond or lake I presume?).

As though this bird brained idea wasn't harrying enough, the avian fanatic gift giver then decides to up the ante by adding enough entertainment to open a circus (actually a total of 50 performers to be exact)!
There are 8 milking maids (I guess that means 8 cows as well?), 9 dancing ladies, 10 leaping lords, 11 piping pipers, and 12 drumming drummers!

I don't know whose great idea that was but it's certainly not my idea of great gifts for Christmas!
